Remember Ken Sizemore who was our featured artist at the Fall Coffee House? Well, he returned May 10th for the Spring Coffee House fundraiser and kindly donated his time and talents to entertaining us once again. He arrived with guitar and a multi-page list of songs for us to choose from. His repertoire amazed us all. Her promised to return - possibly in the fall. If you haven't had the pleasure of hearing Ken, be sure you are present and accounted for if and when he is able to return.
Coffee and delicious hors d'oeuvres were served . . . adding to the fun.
On Saturday, June 14th Sheri Kling came with guitar and songs. According to family lore, Sheri started whistling before she could talk, and singing followed closely behind. In the years since, she's been playing music and speaking to audiences in around the Southeast and beyond. Described by Florida's Bradenton Herald as a "natural Southern gal storyteller in the Lucinda Williams/Flannery O'Connor vein," Sheri left her metro Atlanta home in 2006 to seek new inspiration in the rural landscape of the northeast Georgia mountains. Since that move, she has become a community columnist for The Northeast Georgian newspaper and appeared onstage at the Sautee-Nacoochee Center in their premiere production "Headwaters: Stories from a Goodly Portion of Beautiful Northeast Georgia." Since 2002, Sheri has released three music CDs on her own HeartSprings Music label, all to critical acclaim.
During Intermission, we had good food brought by those who attended and had a chance to visit with Sheri. Her CD's were available and many were sold during Intermission and after the program. Sheri has promised to return with her music and perhaps to give a Sunday talk.
